STATION FAMILY FUND RAISES MORE THAN $84,000 THROUGH ALAN SHAWN FEINSTEIN MATCHING GRANT CAMPAIGN
April 17, 2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PROVIDENCE, RI The Station Family Fund announced today that it had raised more than $84,000 as a result of the matching grant campaign sponsored by local philanthropist, Alan Shawn Feinstein.
This is a tremendous shot-in-the-arm for our organization, said Jonathan Bell, Board Chairman of the Fund. We were down to nearly our last dollar when Alan came up with this idea. I am especially pleased that we received donations from 134 different people and organizations, many from Rhode Island and Massachusetts and some from as far away as Illinois, Florida and Missouri.
Mr. Feinstein offered to match up to $100,000 in donations in February after seeing news reports that the Fund was struggling to meet needs. Donations had to be received by March 23, 2007 in order to qualify for the matching program.
The Station Family Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation committed to providing assistance to the families and survivors of the tragic Station Nightclub Fire that occurred on February 20, 2003 in West Warwick, Rhode Island. The Fund has raised and distributed in excess of $700,000 in emergency payments and has provided countless other resources to fire survivors and their families.
We will use this money wisely to assist the healing process for those affected by this great tragedy, said Mr. Bell. Thanks, again, to Alan Shawn Feinstein, and all of our donors, for coming to the aid of a community in need.
For further information, contact Jonathan Bell, 401-480-0179, email Bellj@gtlaw.com.
